Ingredients
- 1 package of Zweigle’s Skinless Texas Hots or 1 package Zweigle’s Cocktail Wieners
- 1 package crescent dough
- ½ cup baking soda
- ¼ cup melted butter
- ¼ cup coarse sea salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- ¼ cup flour
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 cup milk
- 2/3 cup Genesee Light Beer (or any beer you have on hand)
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
Instructions
- Roll out dough and press together to create one sheet. With a pizza cutter, cut the dough into 1 inch strips.
- If you’re using hot dogs, cut the hot dogs into 1 ½ inch pieces. Place the hot dog pieces or cocktail wieners on one end of the dough strip and roll.
- Bring a pot of water to boil with ¼ cup of baking soda. Place the dough wrapped hot dogs into the boiling water 3-4 at a time and pull them out of the water as soon as they reach the surface.
- Once all pieces are boiled, rub an egg wash on the top and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Then place them in the air fryer or 375 degree oven. Cook until they are golden.
- While the pretzel dogs are cooking, prepare the beer cheese dipping sauce. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add flour and whisk for one minute.
- Slowly stir in milk and beer, whisking until smooth and combined. Add mustard, Worcestershire, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne power until sauce thickens.
- Add cheese and stir until completely melted.
- Serve and enjoy!
