Though Rochester is of course known for its sometimes unpredictable and harsh weather, there’s nothing quite like a Rochester summer. Everyone’s suddenly rejuvenated come June, ready to celebrate each and every sunny day before it’s gone. There’s also an influx of visitors to the Rochester area during the summer, as a number of annual festivals spring up throughout the season and bring new life to the city.

  1. Eat at the Rochester Food Truck Rodeo

What can we say? As foodies, it’s only appropriate for the first item on this list things to do in Rochester this summer to include some delicious eats. If you’re looking for something to do on the last Wednesday of the month all the way up until September, make sure you head down to to the Public Market for the Rochester Food Truck Rodeo. With good food, drinks, and music, what’s not to love?

  1. Attend a Party in the Park

Love live music? Head downtown to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park every Thursday night from June 7 to August 2, 5-10:30 p.m. for Rochester’s annual Party in the Park series. You’ll love hearing a variety of music including blues, funk, rock, reggae, and classic rock while enjoying the summer evenings in Downtown Rochester.

  1. Sign Up for a Walking Food Tour

Want to experience some of Rochester’s finest food and drink? Check out the East End Experience, a walking food tour of Rochester’s East End running from May 12 through September 1. Join over 200 artisans at the Fairport Canal Days June 1-3. One of New York State’s most popular arts festivals, this weekend won’t disappoint.

7.. Attend the Park Ave Fest

Summer isn’t complete in Rochester without a visit to the Park Ave Fest. Head over August 4-5 and shop over 350 artists, craftspeople, and exhibitors from the U.S. and Canada at this unique downtown festival.
